Frame description
Words in the Vehicle: Ride frame are used in a situation where a Passenger is moved by a Vehicle that is not under the Passenger’s direct control. The sentences often include the Source, which is the starting point of the motion, and the Goal, which is the endpoint of the motion. Alternatively, when neither Source nor Goal are mentioned, the Path of the motion, e.g. “durch die Wüste” (“through the desert”) or the Area can be included. The frame element Area describes a general area in which an irregular motion with no identifiable single path takes place, e.g. “kreuz und quer durch die ganze Umgebung” (“criss cross through the whole countryside”).
The actions of a driver who operates the vehicle are captured in the Vehicle: Operate frame, and it is important to note that these two frames are so closely related in the real world, they often blend or are ambiguous when people use these lexical units.
